Safety Tips against Heat Waves

What is heat waves?

Heat waves is known as the longest period of abnormal hot weather, it is last more than several days to weeks that occurs during the summer season typically it is occur between March and June, and in some rare cases even extend till July.

The extreme temperatures and resultant atmospheric conditions adversely affect people living in the regions as they cause physiological stress, typically involve dehydration, heat cramps, heat exhaustion and/or heat stroke sometimes resulting in death.

To lessen the impact during the heat wave and to prevent serious ailment or death because of heat stroke the following are the safety tips during the Heat Waves

Listen to local weather forecasts and stay aware of upcoming temperature changes.

Drink plenty of water (6 to 8 glasses of water a day for an adult).

Avoid high-protein foods and meat.

Avoid getting too much sun.

Take it easy. Slow down and avoid doing strenuous work.

Dress for the weather. Wear lightweight, light colored clothing.

  • If you feel faint or ill, see a doctor immediately.
